magical *13arts*

Sadly, this will be my last blogpost for 13arts.
I have decided to take a year off from all teams.
Not that I will give up all the creativity
but I thought it would be nice to work with no deadlines for a change.
I will take up an old love of mine, photography.
Hubby and I love to make long nature walks and really enjoy being outdoors.
So every week we plan a trip and off we go........packed with my camera, lunch and drinks!

With this said, I would like to thank you Aida and the team for a fabulous year!
Thanks for the opportunity to be part of a wonderful team with such talented ladies!
I'm sure we will be seeing each other!

To all of my friends,
wishing you a fabulous, creative, healthy, sunny and magical new year!
All the best for 2016!

Magical, a winter canvas.
Started by applying modeling paste with the snowflakes stencil to the canvas.
Added the paint colors with some water to let them blend a little.
To get a more wintery/snowy effect, I dabbed some gesso with a sponge.

White flowers and twigs cluster.

Wooden mini stars and some white Splash ink.
Love that you can see the texture of the canvas!

The word magical got a coat of the white Splash ink, perfect to get a good white color.

photo frame *13arts*

Photo frame with a photo of the four of us, taken on our last vacation.
We had the most wonderful vacation and I wanted to make something to always remember these special days together.

The shutters had, originally, a bright orange base, so I gave it two coats with gesso first.
Started this project by painting the frame with a mix of gesso and magic powder.
Added some glass filler, glass beads and silver microspheres.

The 'remember' metal plate is from Scrapberry's.

The rolled up flowers were made with the "Secret Letters" papers and the "Winter Tales" papers.
Sheets: my memories, berry and holly.
Although the Winter Tales papers are perfect for winter and christmassy projects,
this project shows it can be used for any other project as well.

The lovely decorative twigs between the leaves.

Added some chipboard behind the shutters, painted with gesso.

The wooden word 'family'.

Created a lovely texture with the glass filler, glass beads and silver microspheres.

alarm clock *13arts*

Altered an alarm clock with a photo of my two girls.

Found an old alarm clock at a local flee market.
Removed all of the inside and gave it some coats with gesso.
Added some magic powder to the gesso to get a more firm coat.

Painted the flowers with the colors.

Added the paints and some water to let them blend a bit.

The chipboard word "love".
Gave it a coat with the white Splash ink.

I used the Splash ink white, black and turquoise.

Some extra gesso as a finishing touch to get a more fresh look.

I wanted to use this long shaped ornament on another project but I pressed to hard so it brook.
Can't throw anything away and decided these two pieces could be well used for this project! lol

two mini winter cakes *13arts*

Today I have two mini cakes in two different styles.
They can be opened so there is some room for a little note or present,
perfect for the holidays or any other special occasion.
One is painted with the new colors from the store, pastel and chalk dirty pink.
The other is with the new paper collection, Winter Tales.
Which one do you prefer?

My favorite set for creating some texture:
glass filler, fine grit, mika flakes, microspheres and glass beads.

I started this pre-made cardboard mini cake by painting it all with two layers of gesso.
Painted with the new colors, pastel dirty pink and chalk dirty pink.
Made a mix of gesso, modeling paste and some magic powder to imitate some whipped creme.
Added all the glass filler, grit, beads and flakes for the texture.
Some gesso and splash white as a final touch.

Some decorative pink crystals.

Added some purple mika flakes to the flowers.

Love all the textures.

And here is my paper mini cake.
Started this one by decorating the sides with the new paper collection, Winter Tales.
Also the mix of gesso, modeling paste and magic powder to imitate the whipped creme.

Yummy textures!

create magic - art journaling *13arts*

Playing in my art journal for the november challenge at 13arts.
No plan, just playing and creating my own kind of magic! :)

If you want to join us, all the information can be found HERE

I started these pages with painting with the colors first.
Once dry, I added some white gesso by using an old credit card.

I used black gesso for the beautiful doily stencil.
And look at the other awesome new stencils from 13arts!
You can find these and other new products in the store HERE

Randomly added some gesso.

Black gesso for the stencil, a bottle cap for the circles and a black fine liner for the small circles.

chest of drawers *13 arts *

Another altered project on my blog today.
This piece, about 35cm high, got a lot of paints and gesso! :)
This piece will be in my, soon to be, scraproom.
My darling oldest daughter will leave the nest in january.
Of course I will miss her like crazy, but the idea of my own place makes me very happy!

Started this project by glueing some paper towel with gel medium.
Glued all the embellishments, the gears and flowers.
Gave it all two coats with gesso.
Added all the paints and once dry, an extra touch with gesso, using a sponge.
Just love this technique.
Starting with lots and lots of paints and ending with some gesso to create that more watercolor and softer look.

The right side of the drawers.
I glued only the right side of this side with paper towel to create more texture.

Detail of the right side.
Had these paint tubes in my stash for a while.
Emptied the tubes in small containers.
Don't want to waste any paint, right! :)

The left side of the drawers.
Here I glued some paper towel as well.

Detail of the left side.

Top view of the drawers.

Before all the paints I took a paintbrush and randomly painted the flowers with gesso.
Not all over but on several spots.
This will give the flower, after all the paints, a nice marbled look.
An extra coat with gesso to finish it off.

These, original white, flowers are also in the 13 arts store.

For this flower I used more colors.

For the fronts I glued the paper towel all over.
I used an old credit card and a sponge for the final layer with gesso.

Love how the colors have blended.
I only used three colors for this project.
